Concept
Unlike traditional toilets segregated by gender, the PYNT TOILET is organized by purpose, offering individually purposed stalls for inclusivity. Each stall is designed as a separate unit with a theme (relax / refresh / styling). To assist users in navigating this unique setup, an innovative digital signage system has been implemented, enhancing the user experience through technology and design.
Design
The digital signage is a departure from conventional display panel toilet signage. It is crafted to blend seamlessly with the architectural environment, offering an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing guide for users. The design of the signage is a simplified layout of the toilet plan, with bubbles popping up to indicate the theme of each room.
System
The technical system of the signage system utilizes EnOcean-compatible locking hardware, SWITCHSTRIKE AIR, which communicates with a Single-Board Computer (SBC). A web application running on the SBC renders this information dynamically, and outputs to a projector. Additionally, usage data is collected via Node Red, facilitating an analysis of patterns like stall popularity and occupancy durations.
